Is the PDF Editor safe?

Yes. The PDF Editor runs entirely in your browser using PDF.js and pdf-lib, so your PDF is never uploaded to our servers or any third party. Nothing is stored once you close or refresh the tab, and no account or personal information is required. Note that Whiteout only visually covers content with a white rectangle — it does not remove the underlying data from the file, so avoid it for redacting sensitive information that must be permanently deleted.

Can I add text to a PDF?

Yes. Choose the Text tool, click on the page to drop a text box, then type your text and adjust font size, color, bold, italic and alignment. This adds new text on top of the page rather than editing the PDF's original text.

Yes. Choose the Image tool, upload a PNG, JPG or WebP file, then place, move, resize and rotate it on the page.

Can I sign a PDF online?

Does Whiteout actually remove the covered text?

No. Whiteout draws an opaque white rectangle on top of the selected area to visually hide it. The original content underneath is not deleted from the file, so this tool should not be used for secure redaction of sensitive information.

Can I edit the existing text already in my PDF?

No. Browser-based tools can't reliably rewrite a PDF's original text layer. The PDF Editor lets you add new text, images, drawings and other elements on top of the page instead.
