How to edit a PDF

Tips for the overall editing workflow

Undo and Redo cover every tool and every page, including page-management changes like reordering, rotating or deleting a page — not just the most recent text or drawing edit — so it's safe to experiment.
Watermarks can target all pages, only the page you're currently viewing, or a custom range you type in (such as "2-5,8") — add the watermark after your other edits so you can see it against the finished layout instead of guessing where content will land.
Whiteout only paints an opaque rectangle over content rather than deleting it from the file, so finish your other edits first, then zoom in to double-check nothing important is left peeking out from under a whiteout box before downloading.
Clicking Download PDF doesn't lock the file or reset the editor — you can keep making changes and download again afterward, so there's no need to get everything perfect before your first export.

Is the PDF Editor safe?

Can I edit the existing text already in my PDF?

Not the underlying text layer itself — browser-based tools can't reliably rewrite that. The PDF Editor lets you add new text, images, drawings and other elements on top of the page instead. If your PDF has fillable form fields, though, you can edit those directly; see the next question.
