What is Draw on PDF?
Draw on PDF lets you sketch, highlight or mark up a PDF page using a pen, straight lines, rectangles and circles — handy for annotating a diagram, circling a mistake, or adding a quick note. It's a lightweight drawing layer, not a full illustration tool.

Example: marking up a floor plan before sending it back
A contractor receives a floor-plan PDF and needs to flag two issues before returning it: a wall drawn in the wrong place and a doorway that's missing. They switch to the Circle tool to mark the wall, then the Line tool to sketch where the new doorway should go, increasing the stroke width so the marks stand out against the thin plan lines. If a shape lands in the wrong spot, the Eraser removes it entirely, and Undo steps back through any other mistakes before they click Apply Drawing and download the marked-up plan.
Tips for marking up a page
- Undo, Redo and Clear Page only affect the page you're currently viewing — each page keeps its own separate drawing history, so switching pages doesn't disturb the undo stack of the page you just worked on.
- The Eraser deletes an entire stroke or shape you drag over, not individual pixels, so one swipe across a whole rectangle or scribble removes it completely.
- Color and stroke width apply to whatever you draw next, not retroactively, so set them before drawing rather than after.
- Rectangle and Circle are drag tools: click and hold at a starting point, drag out to the size you want, then release — they aren't placed with a single click.
Is Draw on PDF safe?
Yes. Each page keeps its own separate undo history on a drawing layer over the pdf.js preview, and pdf-lib composites your strokes into the file only when you click Apply — all locally, so your marked-up PDF never reaches a server.
