What is Split PDF?
Split PDF breaks one PDF document into several smaller PDF files. You can define your own page ranges, split the document into equal-sized chunks, or visually pick out individual pages — useful for pulling a chapter out of a book, separating scanned invoices, or sharing only part of a longer document.

Example: each split mode in practice
On a 10-page PDF, the three split modes behave like this:
- Page ranges — typing
1-3on the first line and4-10on the second produces two files: a 3-page file and a 7-page file. Each line you add becomes one more output file. - Every N pages — setting "Pages per file" to
4produces three files covering pages 1-4, 5-8 and 9-10, with the last file holding whatever pages are left over. - Select pages — clicking the thumbnails for pages 2 and 7 produces two separate single-page files,
page-2andpage-7— this mode always outputs one page per file, never a range.
Tips for splitting a PDF
- In Page ranges mode, a line that isn't a valid range (like text or an out-of-bounds page number) is skipped rather than stopping the whole split, and the status message tells you how many lines were skipped.
- Splitting is capped at 200 output files per run — a very fine "every N pages" setting on a huge document will only generate the first 200 files.
- "Download All (ZIP)" re-fetches each already-generated file and packs it with JSZip, so it can take a few extra seconds on large batches compared to downloading files individually.
Is Split PDF safe?
Yes. Every output file — up to the 200-file cap per run — is built in your browser and packaged into a ZIP with JSZip only when you ask for it, so your original PDF never reaches a server.
