Example
Say you have a set of app mockup screens exported as PNGs with transparent backgrounds, and you want to send a client one PDF instead of ten separate image files. Add the PNGs, arrange them in the order you want to present them, and click Generate PDF — each PNG becomes its own page.
Because a PDF page has no transparency channel, any transparent areas in your PNGs are filled with white in the finished document — so a screen mockup with a see-through background will show up on a plain white page rather than looking transparent. With Page size set to "Fit to image," each page is sized to match that image's pixel dimensions exactly (at 96 DPI), which keeps mockups at their native resolution instead of shrinking them onto A4 or Letter.
Tips
- Transparent areas in your PNGs become solid white in the PDF — if your design relies on transparency to sit over other content, flatten it against the intended background color first.
- PNG uses lossless compression, so a batch of large screenshots or mockups will generally produce a bigger PDF than the same images saved as JPG — if file size matters more than pixel-perfect sharpness, JPG to PDF may be a better fit.
- "Fit to image" builds each page at the image's exact pixel size, converted to points at 96 DPI — a 2800×1800px screenshot becomes an unusually large page, which is good for archiving at full resolution but less practical if you plan to print the PDF.
- Reordering or removing an image, or changing the page size, clears any PDF you've already generated, so click Generate PDF again after making changes.
Is PNG to PDF safe?
Yes. Each PNG — transparency and all — is embedded into the finished PDF locally in your browser; nothing is uploaded to our servers, no account is needed, and nothing is kept after you close the tab.
