What is PDF Metadata Editor?

PDF Metadata Editor lets you change the title, author, subject and keywords stored inside a PDF file, then download the updated document. It's useful for correcting inaccurate document properties, adding descriptive metadata before publishing a file, or clearing out details you'd rather not share.

Example: removing your name before sharing a document externally

You drafted an internal report and exported it to PDF before sending it to a client or posting it publicly. Exported files often carry your name in the Author field and an internal project code in Subject or Keywords. Load the PDF here, clear the Author field, replace the Subject with something client-appropriate, and save — fields you don't touch keep their original values, and only the ones you change are rewritten.

Things to know

Only Title, Author, Subject and Keywords are editable here. Creator, Producer and the two dates are shown for reference but can't be changed through this form.
Saving always sets Modification Date to the current time and rewrites Producer to "Toolbeel (toolbeel.com)" — this happens on every save, even if you only changed the Title.
Keywords are stored as a single comma-separated list — invoice, 2026, finance becomes three separate keyword entries in the saved file.
If the PDF is password-protected, it may not load here at all — remove the password with Unlock PDF first.

Is PDF Metadata Editor safe?

Yes. It reads and rewrites your file's properties entirely in your browser — including automatically updating the Modification Date and Producer field on every save — without ever uploading the PDF to our servers. No account is required, and nothing is stored once you close the tab.
