Frequently Asked Questions

How is FD maturity amount calculated?

This calculator uses the standard compound interest formula: A = P × (1 + r/n)^(n×t), where P is the deposit amount, r is the annual interest rate, n is the number of compounding periods per year, and t is the tenure in years.

Which compounding frequency should I choose?

Most Indian banks compound FD interest quarterly, even though interest is credited at maturity for cumulative deposits. Check your bank's FD certificate or terms, and select the matching frequency for an accurate estimate.

Does this include TDS or tax on FD interest?

No. This calculates only the maturity amount based on the deposit, rate and tenure you enter. FD interest is taxable as per your income slab, and banks may deduct TDS if interest exceeds the applicable threshold.

Does this work for both cumulative and non-cumulative FDs?

This calculator assumes a cumulative FD, where interest is reinvested and paid out at maturity. For a non-cumulative FD with periodic interest payouts, the payouts aren't reinvested, so the actual maturity value will differ.

What if I withdraw my FD before maturity?

This calculator estimates the value at full maturity only. Premature withdrawal usually attracts a penalty and a lower applicable interest rate, so your actual payout on early withdrawal will be less than the amount shown here.

Is my deposit information sent to a server?

No. All calculations happen directly in your browser. The numbers you enter are never uploaded, saved or sent anywhere.
